‘Aniliagi’, part of 'At The Edge Of Comfort' exhibition along with @tampakis.dimitris presented during @parisdesignweek at Galerie Basia Embiricos between 07.09.2024 - 15.09.2024
Myths function as parasites within the realm of reason, attaching themselves to familiar narratives while distorting them, pushing us out of our comfort zones and into uncharted territory. They disrupt the perceived order of reality, planting stories that defy conventional understanding.
For this exhibition, I crafted a semi-fictional story inspired by a variation of the Greek folk tale ‘Ο Βασιλιάς Ανήλιαγος’ (Vasilias Aniliagos-King Sunless), itself rooted in ancient myth. Each artefact in this exhibition serves as a tangible chapter from the story, with every piece activating and completing parts of the narrative. The text of each moment is written onto a vase, while rust was used to emphasize the darkest moments, much like a creeping decay that seeps into the work, transforming the beauty of the familiar into something raw and unsettling, revealing the corrosion beneath the surface of myth.
Many thanks to @erastirion_studio for the help and support during the process.
