Arrhythmia
Centrum, Berlin, 48 Stunden Neukölln festival

Arrhythmia is a wall piece that tells the story of M., a semi character who moves through a world shaped by emotional chaos, drug use, love, and transformation. The work is based on a story I wrote this summer, with parts of that text included in the piece itself, woven into the layers like memories or voices. The story centers on a night when M. dies for 11 seconds after mixing different substances, and what she sees while her heart stops: a surreal, sacred vision where she floats like a fish in a blue sky-water space, filled with hybrid female creatures who call her mother and give her strange riddles about life and death.

The artwork reads like a mythic code and is structured as a sacred triptych made of two layers: a collage of symbols from the story and the printed layer that reveals another hidden dimension coming from the unconscious. M.’s short death becomes a visual language for survival, for the beauty and violence of returning after breaking.

The piece was part of the Arrhythmia project, presented at Centrum Berlin this June. Arrhythmia was a hybrid art and performance event, merging exhibition and live performances. The project was organized and curated by Niki Danai, Niki Maria Lore, and Plus Plus, and took place during the 48 Stunden Neukölln festival in Berlin.
