Multimedia Installation, (2023), ‘Beyond Fear’ Exhibition, Cultural Foundation of Tinos, Greece @itip.tinos

Pt1: Entry In The Company | Pt.2: Meeting With The Boss | Pt.3: Managers Orgy

Ophis is a huge organization taken its name from the word Ophis which in ancient Greek means snake.
Organizations are fetish structures. Automatically repel and alienate. They are attractive. They seduce. They are libidinal, driven by obsessions and administrative fantasies, but at the same time they create fear and awe.

The installation becomes the place where personal experience, obsessions, myths and internet culture are connected. The snake becomes the entity bridging the archaic old fear of the ancient people and the tangible reality of contemporary existence. The installation is a snapshot, a scene that represents the power relations between the 3 types of organizational people: the boss, the manager and the office worker. The red color of the organization’s branding, connects all these types together.

Their relationship appears over the installation in an augmented reality video, triggered by the red color. A new digital space is being created that we can see ourselves inside. The inconspicuous iguana becomes a warning sign for ourselves of even greater and uncertain dangers posed by people’s entanglement with the power of organizations. What will happen? Will ever the iguana manage to escape?
